As you all know I love to use my own product in the field to arm myself with hands on knowledge of what works best and what doesn't. This season I was blessed with the opportunity to harvest a bear with a bow, a first for me, and of course, used my trusty caper for the skinning! I still find it to be the most comfortable and fastest skinner for my hands. Edge retention on this project is difficult to evaluate since I had been carrying the knife and using it for some time before I started skinning, but I was able to do the majority of the bear before making a couple passes on a hone steel to straighten the edge near the tip and it's cutting like a champ again.
No big trophy bear, but a darned good day in creation, and good meat in the freezer.
Cheers,
Davy
