The Kydex advantage:
Kydex is a hard durable polymer with exceptional shape retention and rigidity. This means that it can be formed to the knife and retain that shape, securely holding the knife but able to flex and release the knife as needed without damage. When you order a knife we mold the kydex to that individual knife so that it fits every nuance and curve of the blade for a perfect fit. Even when properly made and boned, a leather sheath can not hold a blade as securely as Kydex. Through-out the years we at Hook Knives have often had the unsavory experience of hastily fumbling through a pack in the dark of night only to find an empty leather sheath. It is more then precarious searching blindly trough ones pack for a bare and very sharp blade. Because of this we endeavored to develop the sheath we offer today.
Unlike leather, Kydex is unaffected by water and normal temperature changes, it does not shrink, relax or break in the way leather does. This means that you can wash your sheath with soap and water, in fact, we recommend it. Our sheaths are even dishwasher safe. (Although as I often mention, please do not subject a good knife to a run in the dishwasher, just the sheath.) No longer must the grime of a bloody knife remain in your sheath forever and ever amen! This also makes the sheath ideal for the fisherman. A knife can dangle from a fly fisherman's necklace upside down, in and out of the water all day without ever loosening its grip on the knife or soaking up water like leather would. Our sheaths also do not need any sort of buckle or strap, the knife simply *clicks in and is held firmly by its own shape.
Below are alternative colors and patterns that you can have your sheath made from. You can select the kydex pattern by name at checkout when you order your knife. Hook knives uses only kydex colors and patterns which are created by color infusion processes, meaning that the camouflage or other pattern is integrated into the polymer and significantly more durable than a painted or dipped pattern.

*"Carbon Fiber" listed above refers to the coloring which is integrated into the face of the Kydex material. The sheath will not be made from carbon fiber, but rather kydex which has been colored to resemble it.
Also, consider having a pair of knives made for one of our twin knife sheaths. A caper and an XS make a wonderful team, but of course, you can choose any combination! Email Davy about options at email@example.com.
